A Thousand Postcards for Donna
There’s this shout-out in Facebook that says: “We all wish to have a new car, new phone, to lose weight… a person who has cancer only wants one thing… to have more birthdays. I know 97% of you won’t put this on your wall… but 3% of my friends will. Put this on your wall in memory of someone who died from cancer or in honor of someone who is fighting cancer.” And I did. I still have that shout-out up my Facebook wall. Why?
Well.. My best friend in grade school is suffering from cancer and is immobile (for now or until the miracle takes place). We have been exchanging text messages and I am quite happy that she is positive amidst her ordeal. She tells me she is quite tired most of the time, and could barely sit so she lays in bed most times. But she is still positive that a miracle will take place, and that she will be healed. Well, that’s my Donna. She has always had that fighting spirit that I sometimes fail at or that fighting spirit which I fight to be in control of. While she is at this phase of her recovery, I wish for her to see the world without necessarily leaving home. So I have asked friends from all over the Philippines and the world to send her a postcard with some words of encouragement.. I am happy that most of my friends who are Post-crossing enthusiasts like myself, and fellow bloggers have taken my request with seriousness. They shall be sending Donna a couple of postcards this week, and I am excited for her. I am sure her face will lit up and her eyes will twinkle..
If you my dear reader would like to send her a postcard also, you can comment below to ask for her address or send me email at mommydharlz@darlingaguilar.com, which I would gladly give you.
I wish to bring a smile on my friend’s face, wish you can help me in this.. It doesn’t really matter if you know her or if she knows you. What matters is that, she gets to see that more and more people awaits her speedy recovery.. Such encouragement will help to make her “FIGHT Till The Miracle Happens” into a reality.. I am sure, with a positive thought and a willingness to go on with life, she will make it..
Besides that, a thousand postcards for Donna will go a long way towards her healing..
Thank you, and God bless!

Hi Eleanor,
This is a very heartwarming post, I can feel your genuine desire for your friend’s healing. My mum too had cancer (breast cancer, stage 2) and she went through chemotherapy. Positive outlook, prayers and supportive family and friends like you would really go a long way. God bless your friend and may she find healing and comfort from the Lord.
