Miss Universe 2010

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Everyone was excited about the pageant. Some even have links to a live stream, while others really had to wake up earlier than usual, or be absent for a very importnat engagement, just to be able to watch Miss Universe 2010. As for me, it was a really heart breaking, trying day that I have faced. And will still continue to face until Lili is okay already.. If you are a follower at twitter and plurk, you would know that Lili had been having on and off fever, and I am going gaga on how to face it. If not for my family and their support, unconditional love and undying well wishes, I would have lost all hope. Ah.. But I wouldn’t go amok like Major Ronaldo Mendoza as I am confident the Lord will deliver me from all suffering and punish the cause of our aggrieved state.  Life must go on and I have to be strong for I am the only responsible parent in Lili’s medical and financial situation. Thank God I am surrounded by mature and unselfish individuals. The monsters, trolls and beasts may rejoice, but their happiness is shallow and will be short-lived..

Anyway, a friend of mine recounted how the question and answer went with Miss Philippines. Well, my mind is not with the Miss Universe pageant as Lili was tested today. We were early at the Medical Center, while my friend called and murmured that he is at the casino games slots , waiting for the pageant to begin. I asked him if he was also in Las Vegas playing some casino games slots, but instead he laughed at me. So I had to ask again. Sure, the venue of the Miss Universe was in Las Vegas, so what should he expect from me? And Las Vegas plus casino games slots, that is a natural connection.

That photo by the way, was shared at plurk this afternoon. So I kinda guessed how my friend was feeling during the said event in the pageant. Well, I am not really a pageant enthusiast, or a fan of the said candidate. I was dealing with a life and death situation with my little princess in the picture so I do not really give any importance as to how the question was answered. And I do not mind the fact that she landed fourth runner up with the said answer. Better than nothing, really. But then again, there must have been a better way of answering that question.  But can you blame her? That’s her best answer and that’s the answer that landed her the fourth crown.. Congratulations anyway..

Wow Australia..

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

My cousins and aunts who live in Australia report that they are confident with their incomes because of the government mandated income protection insurance australia. Something that we are way way behind in terms of financial assurances. I wonder if we will ever have something like that here in the Philippines sometime in the future.

I hope so…

Christmas is Just around the Corner..

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

It’s August and next month is September. The “Ber” months that will end in December. What better way for us to prepare for Christmas now and buy early for our gifts. And instead of buying retail, we should opt for wholesale. That way, we get savings in magnanimous proportions. Like, I plan to give adult women in my family wholesale handbags and the men, wholesale western belts. I guess for male and female teens in the family would get wholesale flip flops..

How about you? Have you started Christmas shopping yet? It is always better to buy them in advance and in wholesale. That way, you can still have a chance to buy extra and perhaps give out extra..

And speaking of giving extra, out of our savings, we can actually give out donations to the orphanages in our every area, as well as sponsor soup kitchen. Very simple and frugal ways to share the meaning of Christmas. And by buying wholesale, our money can go a long way..  I believe it is no longer time for expensive and really unnecessary gifts. But then again, if our budget is huge, then it will also count to give more than what others can afford.. But like what I said, to be practical, wholesale is the in thing these days..
