EMPOWERED MOM

I met Lucita (not her real name) in the center six months ago, and during our first meeting she was silent and always stared blankly at the wall. I was given a few short details of the reason why she was with us and I found out that she had been fighting her common law husband in her fight against VAWC. The day she was brought in, she was black and blue with blood, cuts and bruises, and was almost lifeless. She then was brought to the hospital and eventually recovered from that fateful afternoon when she almost lost her life. Well, her common law husband (live-in partner) came home, brought with him another woman and sent her away, telling her to leave behind their children. Since she refused to leave her 2 kids with him, and his 2 kids from a previous relations, he gave her the punch and kick. The man made her look and feel so small by bringing home another woman, and physically abused her in front of her children. That was enough trauma for the kids to endure. Apparently, she was dragged by him to the streets and went back inside the house and locked her out for good. Someone saw her almost lifeless body and brought her to the center and then to the hospital.

Hearing all these, I wish everything is as easy as finding Movers Orange County to have her move to a different location. Sigh!
