My student in Values Ed. was asking me the other day if  baseball betting is good. He explained that he and his friends join many other off campus friends of theirs as they go about with the game, and bet on the side. I was caught off guard because I didn’t know what to say.  A lot of people would bet between Manny Pacquiao and his opponent while a boxing match is at hand. In basketball, some people do the same. So  is it bad or simply an added flavor in the sport?

So I thought to myself, I should give him an honest opinion and some valid circumstances. After all, I am just his teacher and not his mother.  Technically, I gave him pros and cons of betting, and later on we were able to arrive at a consensus. His opinion more than mine, and his decision, more than my suggestion.

Anyway, in everything in our life, we can not really say that one action is bad or good just because other people think them to be. We need to have solid evidence and proof of our decisions rather than live up to other people’s dictatorial manner.

I guess, that is the simpler way of doing it.. How about you? What do you think?
