French Lessons Part 1: On Light Bulbs…
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009My teacher in Sociology back in college always told the class that we should always be mindful of new words and new additions to our vocabularies… She said it doesn’t really matter which dialect or language, so long as we understand what they mean and how they are used in sentences.. Being well traveled, she said that a few words learned will help somehow, especially in odd situations where they may be applicable. So today, I am sharing here what I have learned by simply browsing online. It really helps to have a translator because it helps so much to decipher words that are from foreign lands… Take for example, the word “ampoule“… Do you know what that means? I didn’t quite understand the phrase “ampoule a led” so I searched and found another interesting phrase to match, “ampoule de luminotherapie“…
Clue: all three has something to do with lamps.. To be precise, “bulb lamp and led lamp”… Okay, let me just simplify this for you guys. The word “ampoule” means “light bulb”… Therefore, “ampoule a led” means…. “light bulb has led”… How about the phrase “ampoule de luminotherapie”? Well, in my search for that phrase I have discovered that light bulbs are not only used for lighting purposes. I discovered that certain types of light bulbs are useful for wellness…
What do you think?
