THE MAGNA CARTA OF WOMEN

Today, my best friend Egee informed me that she read in the paper yesterday about RA 9710 or THE MAGNA CARTA OF WOMEN.. I searched for it online and the first thing I saw was that from Senator Pia Cayetano‘s website.. then the ones at Inquirer.net, where it has the positive news and the one about the opposing bishops… tsk..tsk..tsk..

Needless to say, I am rejoicing about this news… At least now my path is clearer and wider… It was not fair to begin with. I am not a bad person but I was the only one suffering the cost… And what high price to pay for my mistake…(My mistake was falling for the wrong person who seemed perfect in the four years before the pregnancy…) Why? Because I am a “woman”, while the irresponsible “man” walks freely with a worry free life… I guess what I will work on now is for him to waive his rights. After all, he is not interested nor concerned of the child.. And I am no longer afraid to stand up because I know the law will back me up—

Thanks to all the authors and co-authors of this bill.. Finally a new chapter in the lives of women… And Madam Arroyo for signing it last Friday…
